Well yesterday was my fourth chemo treatment. Oh god I can see the finish line of the chemo part now 🏁🏁
So good that I’m able to go to work for a few hours then head in and have my treatment from lunchtime onwards and then head home from Moree. Certainly makes it a lot easier than taking an entire day off work and driving 400klm to Tamworth. Glad that Moree has a clinic here makes it so much easier and it’s smaller and you get to know the nurses one on one and it’s much quiter room with only 3 chairs.
There hasn’t been a time I’ve had a treatment that I haven’t seen one of my past customers from my pharmacy days. I usually get the ‘Hi What the hell are you doing here Kristy’ god love them. One thing for certain I’ve learned is that cancer doesn’t discriminate, it can affect anyone and everyone… even if you have no family history or symptoms leading up to a diagnosis. But i do enjoy the catchups with past customers.
I got home yesterday arvo and the usual after treatment tiredness started so had a quite arvo watching dvds and playing with Lexie & Harper. A shit nights sleep with me waking every 2/3 hours has me abit busted this morning but I’m at work. Trying to keep my routine the same and not develop bad sleeping habits is my main goal 🎯
Last Friday I had an appointment with a geneticist 🧬 as the my Oncologist would like me to be tested for the BRCA gene (which almost everyone would probably know that Angelia Jolie carried and decided to have a double mastectomy done) apparently everyone carry’s the gene but most people’s doesn’t break off and change (easiest way to describe it) and potentially carry a risk of developing cancer.
I giggled when the lovely nurse described to be me the potential results to me… telling her I would place money on my results been the most weird/odd ones out there. Cause that just seems to be the way my tests / results have been going 🤷♀️ I like to be different 🙃
This is done by a blood test which I had done on Tuesday when I have my normal day before chemo treatment bloods done. It was a good morning and my blood ran well so 5 vials later 💉💉😮. The results from the geneticist should be back in 6-8 weeks so I’ll be keen to see what they show and if one side on my family carry the gene. This will then help those relatives in the family if they then wish to be checked so they can be informed and know if they carry the gene.
So that leaves only 2 more rounds of chemo to go 🤗🤗 soooo keen to get it out of the way. Even though I will still have to go into the clinic every 3 weeks to still have the Herceptin and Perjeta for another 7 months or so. They have less side affects and I should 🤞 be nearly back to normal as such. Well as normal as I was before 🤣🤣🤣
